The current temple was built in the 19tth century on the roadside. The terrain was sold by Mr Latune for the construction of the edifice.
In 1683, on the orders of the Bishop of Valence, the Aouste temple and many others were destroyed, two years before Louis XIV abolished the Edict of Nantes. In 1835, the Crest consistory applied to the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Justice for permission to build a roadside temple. The royal authorization was dated August 13, 1835. The land was ceded by M. Latune, a stationer living in Crest, for the sum of 520 frcs.
"The temple is to seat 300 people, measure 16 m in length, 8 m in width and 8 m in ceiling height. The construction is so simple that it is not necessary to draw up a plan.
