Cultural heritage Fresque d’Auguste

Présentation

A fresco of Auguste in trompe l'oeil style made in 2010 in the memory of the visit of Emperor Auguste by Augusta.

It was under Emperor Augustus that the city was created. He developed postal services for all. On this virgin territory, a mansio was built, a kind of inn that welcomed couriers (people delivering messages), travelers and legions. The town grew up around this mansio. In 2010, a trompe l'oeil fresco was painted to commemorate Emperor Augustus' visit to Augusta.
